COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility Expands, Daily COVID-19 Update

The Indiana Department of Health has expanded the COVID-19 eligibility to Hoosiers 55 to 59.  Residents ages 55 and older can make an appointment to get the COVID-19 vaccine by visiting https://ourshot.in.gov or by calling 211. 

The Indiana Department of Health has partnered with Indianapolis Motor Speedway, University of Notre Dame and Ivy Tech Community College to host three mass vaccination clinics. The clinics will offer the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.  The vaccine requires only one dose. 

Indianapolis Motor Speedway will be open March 5-7 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Ivy Tech Community College in Sellersburg will be open March 12-13 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the University of Notre Dame will be open for mass vaccinations at the Compton Family Ice Arena March 26-27 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET. 

As of Tuesday, 1,014,651 people in the state have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 587,359 individuals are fully vaccinated.

Meanwhile, 582 additional people in the state have been diagnosed with COVID-19, according to Tuesday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health.  Two more residents in Marshall County, two more residents in Starke County and two more residents Pulaski County tested positive with COVID-19.

There were 31 additional COVID-19 deaths in the state to increase the total number of deaths to 12,192.  It increases by 431 if probable deaths are included.
