Bremen Administrators Express Concern with Remote Learning Students

Bremen administrators discussed some concerns with Bremen Public School Board members Wednesday night about the performance of a few remote learners.

There are several students at the high school who Principal Bruce Jennings said have received failing grades while enrolled in remote learning.  He stressed that communication has been sent to parents and guardians regarding student performance and attempts are being made to get those students to be more engaged with school work.

Superintendent Dr. Jim White commented that remote learning was an option given to students and parents at the beginning of the school year as a way to start the school year in the middle of the pandemic, but they may take a closer look at that option before the next school year.

Many students who started on remote learning at the beginning of the school year at Bremen Public Schools returned to the classroom to be immersed into the educational environment, but there are those who have stayed on remote learning.  A lot of students are successful remote learners, but the school board is now concerned about students who may have entered a possible five-year high school plan due to lack of motivation to complete work on a virtual basis.
