Argos School Board Approves Stipend for Educators to Receive COVID-19 Vaccine

The Argos School Board members took action Monday night to approve a $100 stipend to give to eligible educators who receive both doses of the Moderna or Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines, or the single-dose vaccine provided by Johnson & Johnson.

Superintendent Ned Speicher said it is the hope to build up immunity as much as possible at the corporation.

Additionally, the board discussed the ESSER II grant as part of the newly-approved Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act.  Speicher said a plan was drafted on how to spend the $450,000 the school will receive.  The plan includes instruction and catch-up growth for students for what they missed over the last year, reimbursement to the school for substitute teacher pay due to teacher quarantine and those who were diagnosed with COVID-19, reimbursement of PPE, and other needs that saw the school through the coronavirus.

Speicher said the quarantine and COVID-19 rates have improved and everyone at the school corporation is looking toward spring break.
