Marshall County Council Reviews Sheriff’s Commissary Report

Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hassel presented an update on Commissary Funds to the Marshall County Council this week as required by the State every year.

Hassel said the balance on July 1, 2020 was $238,317.35 and the end total on December 31, 2020 was $228,169.23.

The large expenditure was for the purchase of a new squad car.  He explained that two vehicles were totaled last year.  One was from an accident with a deer and the other was when an officer slid off the road and hit a tree.  The insurance did not provide enough to cover the cost of an entire vehicle so an additional $11,000 was paid out of the fund to go with the insurance money to get one new vehicle.

The report was approved with a unanimous vote.

The 2021 budget was approved at a total cost of $252,500 for supplies, services and equipment.
