Inclement Weather Could Impact COVID-19 Vaccination Appointments

COVID-19 vaccination appointments could be rescheduled due to the impact of the winter storm.

Officials from the Indiana Department of Health announced Monday that inclement weather could impact clinic operations and efforts are being made to reschedule appointments with local vaccination sites.

Residents whose appointments are impacted will be notified by email or text message about the need to reschedule.  Rescheduling may be done by calling 211.

Health officials are also working to get residents their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine within the appropriate time frame should an appointment be rescheduled.  The second dose of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines should be administered within 42 days of the first dose to provide full immunity, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Residents over the age of 65, along with healthcare workers, long-term care residents and first responders are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.  To schedule an appointment, visit https://ourshot.in.gov or call 211.  Individuals must show proof of residency or employment in Indiana, and meet the eligibility criteria to receive a vaccine.

As of Monday, 816,758 Hoosiers have received a first dose of vaccine, and 336,827 are fully vaccinated.
