The Culver Town Council members approved a contract with CRMorphew Consulting, LLC in the amount of $7,500 to assist the town with economic development and strategies.
Owner Cheryl Morphew met with the town council members in a two-hour work session in January where she presented an overview of several topics. At that time, her presentation included economic development issues in rural counties, business attraction and retention incentives, abatement schedules and processes, and site selection information. She also stressed the importance of having shovel-ready properties or having buildings available for projects.
Morphew is expected to meet with several different groups to establish an economic development coalition, and create a vision and plan for the Town of Culver. She will help identify issues and challenges, prioritize the top three issues, draft a tentative work plan focused on those top few issues, and evaluate a level of participation of groups to commit to address issues.
Strategic planning sessions will also be held to work toward the success of economic development plan.
The entire process is expected to take several months which is covered under the contract.
