It will cost money if you cancel an event at the pavilion or the B&R Building in Argos.
Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney told the Argos Town Council members at their last meeting that she went to the Park Board members and discussed placing an administration fee on the rental costs of the buildings. She noted that the rentals are booked well in advance, and then often times there are cancellations two days before the event was to occur. Mullaney said the town cannot rent it out again in a short amount of time so that money is lost.
She said rentals are $100 for a deposit and $100 for the space, which is due at the time it is rented, plus $7.00 in sales tax. Mullaney said the sales tax is the only thing not refunded as it is not permitted by the state. Currently, the rest of the money is refunded.
Mullaney mentioned that whatever the council members decide, the Park Board would like half of the refund as an administration fee.
Ultimately, the Argos Town Council members voted to refund money up until 10 business days before the event. However, a $50 administration/cancellation fee would be charged. Anytime a cancellation is made after that 10-day window, there will be no refund.
