Number of Local New COVID-19 Cases Remains Lower

The number of new positive COVID-19 cases in the area remains in the single digits for the most part.

Marshall County had 20 new cases for a new overall total of 4,924, while Starke County had six new cases for a new overall total of 1,707, and Pulaski County had a total of four new cases for a new overall total of 946.

The state reported another 3,973 new positive cases for a new overall total of 587,049.  Out of the total number of cases, 375,699 people have recovered, 39,391 individuals are fighting the virus, while 8,913 people have died from COVID-19, according to statistics from the Regenstrief Institute. 

Marshall County’s 7-day positivity rate with all tests is 10.4 percent, Starke County’s rate stands at 15.9 percent and Pulaski County’s rate is at 13.3 percent.

To date, 282,943 Hoosiers have received their first dose of vaccine, and nearly 56,000 have been fully vaccinated.
