The Marshall County Commissioners approved a quote for three new vehicles for the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department at their most recent meeting.
Sheriff Matt Hassel explained that two vehicles would be traded in and one vehicle would replace one that was totaled last year. He added that this would bring their fleet up to full strength.
Sheriff Hassel presented quotes for three 2021 Ford Explorers from Oliver Ford. The three vehicles were priced at $33,401 apiece totaling $100,203. The trade-in value was figured in at $6,000 for two vehicles so the total purchase price would be $94,203.
Quotes were also presented by Country Auto for three 2021 Dodge Durangos at a price of $34,544 per vehicle totaling $103,632. The trade-in value of the two vehicles was $6,500 for a total purchase price of $97,132.
Both vehicles were rated as competitive with police certified packages, according to Sheriff Hassel but he recommended going with the lower bid presented by Oliver Ford. The commissioners unanimously approved the bid from Oliver Ford. The vehicles will be ordered and may be March before they are on the road for the Sheriff’s Department.
