John Glenn School Board Members Take Oath of Office, Reorganize

Four John Glenn School Board members took the Oath of Office at the beginning of the board’s first meeting of the new year.

Jared Egger is a newly elected member, Ryan Knowlton was elected to his first full term on the board after being appointed to the seat left vacant by Jeff Johnston in the fall of 2020, and Christian Mattix and Robert Borlik were re-elected to their seats on the board in the General Election.

They join William Groves, Dan Drotar and Dennis Holland on the seven-member school board.

Following the Oaths of Office, the school board voted William Groves as board president, Ryan Knowlton as vice president, and Christian Mattix as secretary.

Groves, who has served on the school board for over 20 years, noted that a different president is elected each year and he advocated for that when he was first elected to serve as a school board member.  He commented that each school board member is important and each member’s vote counts to keep the corporation operating with the focus remaining on the students.

In other appointments, Tom Bendy was retained as the corporation treasurer and Carol Kuzmicz was retained as deputy treasurer.

The school board meetings will remain on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 7 p.m.  The annual salary for each board member will stay at $2,000.  The salary amount has not changed in the past 20 years.
