Bremen Library Director to Share Library Renovation Plans with Town Council

Bremen Library Director Chris Scandling is expected to appear before the Bremen Town Council members at their February 8 meeting to talk about the library’s proposed renovation project.

Scandling was before the Marshall County Council members in December to talk about a bond for the project, but the council members wanted to hold a public hearing prior to their approval of the bond.  The council is required to approve the request for bonding as it is the fiscal body that approves the library’s budget each year.

At the time, Marshall County Councilman Heath Thornton mentioned that library officials should present the information to the Bremen Town Council as a “courtesy” so all entities know what is going on with the project.

The library board is hoping to remodel the building, build an addition to the building, and reconfigure the parking lot at a cost of about $3 million.  The library board would provide $230,000 toward the project. The tax rate would increase four cents per $100 of assessed valuation.

More details surrounding the bond and the project will be presented before the Bremen Town Council at their February 8 meeting that starts at 4:30 p.m. ET at the Bremen Town Hall.
