The Bourbon Town Council members approved a contract with Chuck DeWitt for zoning and code enforcement for the town.
The town previously held an intergovernmental agreement with Marshall County to allow DeWitt the opportunity to perform those duties with Bourbon, but since the Marshall County Commissioners did not retain him as the County Building Commissioner, a sole contract with DeWitt was drafted for the town.
The contract would be a yearly contract in the amount of $12,000. DeWitt will work as needed for the town. He may have set dates and times, but it will determine on work needed in Argos and Culver as he has similar contract terms with those municipalities.
The town council members approved the contract with a unanimous vote.
As for the proposed termination of the intergovernmental agreement with the county concerning building permits, the council voted to table that action pending more information. DeWitt said he wants to work with an agency to put permits, Planning Commission and BZA cases, and other needed items online to assist residents and contractors.
