Two More Local Residents Die of COVID-19

Two more local residents have died of COVID-19, according to Friday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health. 

Those deaths occurred in Starke County and Pulaski County which pushes the total number of COVID-19 deaths in Starke County to 34, and the total number of deaths in Pulaski County to 29.  Marshall County remains at a total of 62 deaths. 

The state announced another 84 COVID-19 deaths from November 21 to December 17.

Another 6,088 residents in the state have been diagnosed with COVID-19 with 50 new cases reported in Marshall County, 31 new cases in Starke County and 26 new cases in Pulaski County. 

The 20-29 age group is trending as the highest percentage of people diagnosed with COVID-19 at 18.6 percent, followed by the 30-39 age group and the 40-49 age group at 15.1 percent.

The number of COVID-19 hospitalizations is trending downward from a sharp spike of hospitalizations from 3,072 on December 13 to 3,229 December 14.  As of Friday’s report, the number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients totaled 3,065 on December 17.
