Plymouth School Superintendent Updates School Board on Construction Project

Work continues on the Lincoln Education Center being constructed on the grounds of the Lincoln Junior High School.

Superintendent Andy Hartley explained to the school board members this week that exterior brick is being installed which will match the existing brick.  Two column-looking pieces that can be seen when driving by are stairwells with a new entrance in between.

Hartley commented, “I will say cement work has started throughout the site.  I’m talking about curbing and sidewalks.  Due to some excessive moisture though and now with the weather turning like it has, it is likely that the first layer of asphalt will not get to be put down until the springtime.”

He added that gravel will be the surface for now.  With the number of spectators at events at a reduced level, the surface should be suitable.

“…and inside the building with the renovation the interior gridwork for ceilings is starting to reach the second floor.  They’re starting to schedule out for carpeting here no later than January so all of that is moving along.”

That portion of the project is anticipated to be complete in April 2021.  It will house cooperative educational offices, vocational offices, special education offices, and adult education programming.
