A Plymouth company will be working to update technology in the Plymouth City Council Chambers room to better serve residents on a virtual basis and to record the audio from the meetings.
City Attorney Sean Surrisi noted that Apheus representatives will help the city with needs associated with broadcasting the meetings on YouTube where it can be stored for viewing at a later time.
A computer system will interface with a website conferencing tool in order to conduct remote public sessions.
The quote from Apheus was for a little over $7,174, which is much less than a quote obtained from BIS. It includes a new computer, cameras, conference room speaker, docking station, setup and training.
Councilman Don Ecker asked if any other electrical components need to be installed for this project. Surrisi said he would ask the owner, but in a previous visit it was noted that additional electrical needs would not be a part of this technology project.
The council approved the quote with a unanimous vote, contingent upon a review of electrical needs.
Surrisi said he hopes that the project can be done in January.
