John Glenn School Board Considers Requests for Early Graduation

The John Glenn School Board members this week reviewed 13 requests for early graduation.

School Board President Christian Mattix stated that as long as he has served on the school board he has not seen this many requests to graduate early.  School Board member William Groves made the same comments as they considered the requests.

Superintendent Christopher Winchell said these students typically attend a school board meeting in person to talk to the school board about their future plans and their career in high school, but with COVID-19 concerns they did not attend.  High School Principal Chris Manering said two students were concerned about attending because of the coronavirus.

“I’ve met with every one of those kids and I talked to them about future plans,” said Manering.  “There are some kids on this list that are actually going directly to college in the spring semester.  All of these kids worked tremendously hard.  They’ve gotten their credits and they’ve gone well above and beyond.  We’re proud of them.  They definitely represent John Glenn and they’re true Falcons.”

The John Glenn School Board members approved the requests as presented with a unanimous vote.  The seven semester graduates include Delilah Allsop, Haleigh Amor, Dalton Ankin, Wyatt Auer, Olivia Baldwin, Jordan Basham, Jade Janssen, Ashley Kelly, Sydney Lowry, Aiyana Raby, Phillip Wallace, Hailie White, and Melachi Wright.
