Five More COVID-19 Deaths Reported Locally, Tri-County Area Remains at Orange Level

Five more people have died of COVID-19 in the tri-county area, according to Wednesday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health.

Marshall County reported one additional COVID-19 death, Starke County had two COVID-19 deaths, and Pulaski County had two. 

Marshall County also reported 105 new COVID-19 cases creating a new overall total of 3,339.  Starke County had 18 new cases pushing the overall total to 1,008, and Pulaski County had 10 for a new cumulative total of 480.

The Indiana Department of Health reported that 6,655 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 from the beginning of November to December 1 and another 91 have died from the virus.  Those deaths span from August to December 1. 

All three counties remain in the orange level on the state’s county metrics page which means moderate community COVID-19 spread.  Sixteen counties are at the red level, which is one less than last week.  Seventy-five counties are at the orange level, while Switzerland County is the only county in yellow.   

Long-term care facility statistics are available on the state’s coronavirus website and they are updated Wednesday of every week.  Miller’s Merry Manor in Culver reported less than five new resident cases of COVID-19 in this week’s report.  There were no new cases at facilities in Plymouth and Walkerton.  Catherine Kasper Home in Donaldson, Signature Health Care in Bremen, and Golden Living Center in Knox had less than five new resident positive COVID-19 cases.
