Bremen Downtown Revitalization Nearing Completion

It has been a long process, but the Bremen Downtown Revitalization project is nearing completion.

The goal was to make the downtown area more user friendly for pedestrians, bicyclists, and people visiting the business district.

Providing wider sidewalks and improved accessibility was involved as well as the addition of banners, bike lanes, lighting, and beautification efforts.

Several sewer laterals and sewer mains were updated as part of the process prior to INDOT’s plan to pave Plymouth Street (State Road 106).  The installation of pedestrian scale lighting and planters remain as well as stop lights at the intersection of Center and Plymouth Streets.

The road is open to traffic while the some smaller items are being completed.  The project is anticipated to be complete in the next couple of weeks.

This is just one of a few major projects outlined in the Marshall County Crossroads Stellar Communities Initiative’s Regional Development Plan.  This project was paid for through a combination of an INDOT grant for streetscape improvements and matching local funds.
