Bourbon Town Council Considers Resolution for COVID-19 Emergency Sick Leave

The Bourbon Town Council members considered a resolution this week that would allow all full-time town employees to take emergency paid sick leave if they contract COVID-19.

Town Council President Ward Byers read aloud from the proposed resolution where he stated that 80 hours of paid sick leave can be used if a town employee falls ill with COVID-19.  It will run concurrently with any emergency FMLA leave.

The pay will be at the employee’s current rate of pay.

The resolution outlines symptoms of COVID-19 which follow federal guidelines for the virus including a fever of 100.4 degrees or higher, shortness of breath, cough, or dizziness.

The resolution would be in effect from December 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021.  The town council members approved the resolution with a unanimous vote.
