Argos Town Council Approves 2021 Salary Ordinance

The Argos Town Council members reviewed two additional changes to the 2021 salary ordinance at their meeting last week.

Councilman Shawn Harley explained that with changes made to the ordinance it was discovered that the assistant chief was left out of the salary ordinance.  Harley said it was put back in the ordinance that was presented for council consideration last week.

Additionally, Town Marshall Corey Bowman asked to promote the school resource officer to the rank of sergeant.  That was approved and added to the salary ordinance.

With those changes, the Argos Town Council members approved the salary ordinance on all three readings with a unanimous vote.

Previous changes to the ordinance included a requirement for Police Commission members to attend meetings in order to get compensated for each meeting. The members get paid $25 a meeting, not to exceed $300 a year.

Another change was to reinstate the requirement for Park Board members to be compensated only if they attend meetings.  It is a compensation of $598.
