Plymouth City Council Declares Economic Revitalization Area for AK Industries

The Plymouth City Council members reviewed information presented in a resolution Monday night to declare an Economic Revitalization Area for AK Industries, Inc. for future tax abatement.

AK Industries, Inc. is a producer of fiberglass and polyethylene products for the wastewater industry.

Greg Hildebrand from Marshall County Economic Development Corporation said the corporation has been in Plymouth since 1981 and will be adding plastic molding equipment at their original location.

He noted that the company was granted a tax abatement last year to expand operations to a vacant building on the property at 1420 Stanley Drive to include the addition of an injection molding division, resin transfer system work, as well as a division that includes hydroaction.  The company now employs 155 employees which exceeds the projected number of employees outlined in the previous tax abatement. The Plymouth City Council members approved a resolution declaring that property as an Economic Revitalization Area with a unanimous vote.
