Bremen Voters Approve Bremen Public School Referendum

The Bremen Voters approved the referendum question on the General Election ballot with 2,316 of the voters in support of the referendum and 787 voters against the referendum.

The referendum will allow Bremen Public Schools to raise taxes six cents per 100 dollars of assessed valuation to hire staff to assist with student health services including an additional nurse and student mental health support.

Bremen Public School Superintendent Dr. Jim White said he was pleased with the outcome of the election.

“All I can do it just thank the generosity of the people of Bremen and the surrounding areas,” commented Dr. White.  “I’m floored by their support and I have to say it really warms my heart that people are willing to vote in favor of things that help children.”

When discussing the 2021 budget with the Bremen School Board this fall, Treasurer Stephanie Pittman said the referendum budget is around $350,000 for those services.

Efforts will be made to fill those positions as soon as the school board has the proper processes in place to assist students.
