Bremen Downtown Project Slated for Completion on November 21

The downtown revitalization project in Bremen is expected to be substantially complete on November 21.

Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy told the Bremen Town Council members Monday night that the concrete and lighting work continues this week, but the stop lights will not be delivered until near the end of December.

State Road 106, which is Plymouth Street in the downtown area, will remain closed until November 21.

Larry Maxon, who owns a martial arts program downtown, complained that the downtown project has taken too long and it cost him customers.  He also asked for a tree to be moved from in front of the door to the facility which will be reviewed by Weldy and construction workers.

Town Attorney Anthony Wagner also explained that the town council members knew that the process was going to be “painful”, but with careful coordination with INDOT the town was able to replace 100-year-old sewer laterals, get new sidewalks and curbs, and a new street, and lighting as part of the town’s Stellar project in the Marshall County Crossroads Regional Stellar Communities Initiative.  He commented that it will look great once the project is done.
