New Technology Planned to Livestream Marshall County Meetings

Meetings held in the second floor meeting room in the Marshall County Building will soon be available to view online.

Marshall County Commissioner Michael Burroughs worked with IT Director Michael Marshall in late summer to come up with needed infrastructure to have meetings available online that are held in the second floor meeting room in the Marshall County Building.

The Marshall County Commissioners meet in that room, along with the Marshall County Council, Marshall County Parks and Recreation Board, Marshall County Drainage Board, Marshall County Board of Zoning Appeals, and Marshall County Planning Commission, among others on regularly scheduled meeting nights.

Burroughs updated his fellow commissioners Monday morning on a tentative timetable for the project.  BIS is scheduled to start installation on December 9.

Burroughs commented, “By the meeting in January 2021, we will be able to livestream all events happening in this facility for the public.  Also, we will be recording those so people can log in after work to see what occurred so it won’t only be livestreamed.”

A contract with BIS was previously approved in the amount of $21,771.60.  Cameras will be purchased for the project along with other technology to assist in broadcasting the commissioners and council meetings online.  The cost of the contract will be reimbursed with CARES Act funding.
