New Grant Available Soon to Assist Hoosiers with Disabilities

Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch announced last week that a new grant will be available for Hoosiers with disabilities.

Crouch explained that the health pandemic created a hardship on residents with disabilities and their ability to access in-person services, social spaces and workplaces to ensure community inclusion .On disability during the course of employment in workplace, one can find lawyers for disability claims as they can help out legally.

Crouch stated, “Through our new Community Connections for People with Disabilities Grant, city, county and incorporated towns can develop innovative solutions to mitigate the COVID-19-related barriers to community and workplace inclusion.”

The grant is being made available by the Office of Community and Rural Affairs in collaboration with the Indiana Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services organization.

Crouch stated CARES Act funding in the amount of $4.9 million will be available for grant seekers.

“Grant awards will be capped at $200,000 for virtual or technology-assisted activities targeted at one of the following:  internet access and technology equity, or social isolation and loss of access to natural supports such as friends, family and community networks.”

The grant application will open October 23, but Crouch urges interested parties to view more information about the grant online at www.in.gov/ocra.
