The Marshall County Commissioners approved a pre-pay for construction of a county morgue.
Coroner John Grolich reminded the commissioners Monday morning that a meeting was scheduled for Monday afternoon with representatives from R. Yoder Construction to review a start date, completion date and overall scope of the project. A contract for the construction will also be approved to get started on the project.
R. Yoder Construction was the lone bidder of the construction of the morgue in the amount of $271,530. At the time the bid was opened, Jason Yoder assured the commissioners that the company is aware of the timing of the project as it will be reimbursed with CARES Act funding which expires December 31, 2020.
The morgue will be a 64×40 building with a storage component inside the structure measuring 24×40. The building will be large enough for an autopsy space, an area to secure decedents, a reception area for families, and office for the coroner. It will be located near the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department off of Pioneer Drive in Plymouth.
