Culver Town Council Authorizes Fee for Police Access to CAD System

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is upgrading its Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and municipal police departments have been asked to put forth funds for a service fee to utilize the service.

Culver Town Marshal Wayne Bean explained to the Culver Town Council members last week that the CAD system allows the exchange of information on reports filed in the system by all officers in the county and suspects incarcerated in the Marshall County Jail.

It also has mapping information and more that will assist officers in investigations.

Culver’s annual service fee will be $2,787.86 for five years.  At the end of five years, the fee will not go up more than five percent.

Bean noted that this fee was not figured into this year’s budget or next year’s budget, but it would be advantageous for the Culver Police Department to take part in this service.

The Culver Town Council members approved the service fee and contract as presented with a unanimous vote.
