Culver School Superintendent Provides COVID-19 Update

Culver Community School Superintendent Karen Shuman shared this week that the school corporation remains free of COVID-19.

On Wednesday, she said two students were sent home with symptoms, but were found to be negative for COVID-19.  She commends the nurses in working to trace contacts of students with symptoms to ensure that care is directed to health care providers.

Shuman added that the Elementary School has a 97 percent average attendance rate, and the Middle/High School has a 95 percent average attendance rate.  She noted that this is an increase, but still below the goal of 98 percent attendance.

In a note sent to community members, Shuman thanked parents for their efforts to keep students healthy and keep on track with school work.

The Culver Community School Board is working to keep students safe and have the best guidance when it comes to the health pandemic.  The school board adopted several updates to policies dealing with COVID-19 and operations at their most recent meeting.  They also adopted a policy on virtual education and the requirement of facial coverings for the time being.
