The Bremen Town Council members may be accepting bids soon for an ambulance service.
Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy told the town council that Lutheran EMS will no longer offer services with their contract to end at the beginning of the year. He noted that he has reached out to a few ambulance companies but will call for an Ambulance Board meeting on Oct. 6 where information can be gathered on what the expectations are and what is needed so the specifications can be advertised for bids.
Lutheran EMS has been the town’s ambulance service for several years. In 2019, Lutheran EMS notified the town that they would be canceling their contract, but an agreement was reached with an increase in prices through the rest of the year and later submitted the lone bid to continue services for 2020 and 2021, but will not complete the contract. Under the contract terms, they are to give 90 days notice of termination of services and that has been followed.
Weldy commented that the process needs to get going so bids can be opened in November in order to have a contract in place in plenty of time before the end of the year.
