The Marshall County Commissioners considered a bid recommendation Tuesday morning concerning the LED message board project.
The county received a $150,000 Community Development Block Grant for the project which would include the installation of six double-sided message boards with the intent to inform the community about important information concerning the health pandemic or other local emergency, and messages unique to each community.
Shannon McLeod from Priority Project Resources told the commissioners that she reviewed the bids received for the project and recommended the lowest bid from Graycraft Signs Plus in the amount of $128,332.08 for the double-sided LED signs. The commissioners unanimously approved the recommendation.
McLeod said one sign will be installed in all communities in Marshall County.
“Argos is wanting to place their sign at the entry of their community park. Culver is going to be out close to the school and then Bremen is wanting to put theirs close to their new downtown park that they’re going to do called ‘Lions Landing’ which is part of the Stellar project. Bourbon is going to put theirs more out toward the [U.S.] 30 exchange onto [State Road] 331. It’ll be on the outskirts of the community,” said McLeod.
The sign in Plymouth is expected to be included on the marquee at the REES Theater.
Since the bid award is under the grant amount, each community will be able to adjust the size or sign mounts with change orders as applicable. Any other aesthetic improvements will be covered by each municipality.
