The Marshall County Commissioners reviewed information in a contract with BIS Digital, Inc. Monday morning that deals with the upgrades in recording technology in Superior Court No. 1, Superior Court No. 2, newly-established Superior Court No. 3, and Circuit Court.
County Attorney Jim Clevenger noted that the recording systems will be updated, along with communication upgrades between the courts and the jail at a cost of just under $200,000. Annual software maintenance fees will need to be included in budgets as things move forward.
Commission President Kevin Overmyer said the purchases will not be considered for CARES Act funding. The money will be appropriated through the General Fund which was approved last week by the county council. The commissioners unanimously approved each cost for each court and Overmyer will sign the contracts. The commissioners also approved a pre-pay for 50 percent of the cost to begin the project as outlined in the contract. The balance will be paid upon completion of the project.
