Marshall County EMA Director Clyde Avery will be working with representatives from BOLD Planning to help develop a continuity of operations plan for the county, following the approval of the agreement by the commissioners last week.
He explained to the commissioners that the project is eligible for reimbursement with CARES Act funding in the amount of $28,470.40.
“It basically is going to be a plan for how we’re going to continue critical government operations during any type of event. With the pandemic, we had to change things on the fly, but this plan will address how we will continue to provide critical services to people in the community, what offices need to be able have in place in order to provide those critical services in the event of any type of disaster.”
He stressed that in order for the plan to be successful all elected officials and department heads have to participate in the process. There will be several workshops in the process by webinar.
County Attorney Jim Clevenger noted that there will be a $6,750 maintenance fee and Avery suggested looking at putting that figure into the budget in 2022.
Avery also commented that he has been looking to complete a plan like this for the past 14 years and is optimistic that the process will be done smoothly.
