The Culver Town Council members took time this week to recognize Culver-Union Township Public Library Director Colleen McCarty as she enters retirement.
Culver Town Councilman Bill Githens, who is a member of the Library Board, said McCarty has been the director of the library for the past 12 years and will head into retirement soon.
He added that the library board has interviewed five applicants for her replacement. Three applicants were from the surrounding area while the other two applicants were from the Fort Wayne and southern Indiana areas.
A candidate has been chosen and all of the necessary background checks and other administrative paperwork are being completed before an official offer of employment is given and the new director announced.
In the meantime, residents are invited to attend a retirement reception for Library Director Colleen McCarty in the upper level of the Culver-Union Township Public Library on Monday, Sept. 14 from 10:30 a.m. to noon ET to offer her luck as she moves on to a new chapter in life. Those attending will need to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines.
