Culver Town Council Adopts Amendment to Traffic Ordinance

The Culver Town Council members adopted an amendment to the existing traffic ordinance Tuesday night that allows the town to lower the speed limit to 10 mph on an unnamed access road immediately north and east of 1004 West Shore Drive, known as Chadwick Shores Condominiums.

The council members believed that to be the best solution for all involved.  Several residents in that area complained about speeding vehicles in that area and asked the council members for a traffic change to maintain public safety.

If a person violates the ordinance, the offender shall pay a penalty no less than $5.00 or more than $25 for each and every offense.

A crosswalk is also planned in the area.

The second and third readings of the ordinance amendment were unanimously approved by the town council Tuesday night.

The council members are also looking for input on naming the access road in the near future.  They will solicit input from the residents in that area on a street name.  One resident who was at the meeting on Tuesday asked the council members to leave it as it is as she claimed it was costly to change addresses on legal documents.  The council members noted that comment on the record.
