When discussing several properties that reportedly violated the unsafe building ordinance and the zoning ordinance in the Town of Argos, Town Attorney Derek Jones told the town council members at their last meeting that a draft of an updated nuisance ordinance will be up for consideration in October.
Jones said a draft of the ordinance has been emailed to the council members. It addresses updates to issues concerning junk cars, fireworks, tall grass and other nuisances. Town Marshal Corey Bowman will need to look at it as well for enforcement procedures.
The council members are interested in moving the process along to put teeth in enforcement with the issues.
Jones also noted that unsafe building and zoning ordinance violations have occurred on a number of properties where action will be taken in order to bring them into compliance.
