Work continues on the Lincoln Junior High School in Plymouth.
Plymouth Community School Superintendent Andy Hartley told the school board members this week that landscaping work is currently underway. The metal panels for the entrances were expected to arrive on Wednesday and will be installed this week. The floor installers noticed a defect in the flooring for the fitness and wrestling rooms and Hartley said conversations are being held with the manufacturer to get that corrected. Other technology pieces are also being finalized.
As for the former structure, Hartley said internal demolition has begun.
“If you’ve driven by recently, you’ve seen a fence go up around the exterior,” stated Hartley. “They’ve been demolishing the interior portions of that and I’m told they’re going to begin the exterior on Monday. We’ll be doing a final walk-through before they begin that portion to make sure we’re all on the same page. We’re going to do that on Friday.”
Hartley added that bricks will be saved from Centennial Gym.
“We’ll look to incorporate those into special event commemorative things later.”
The new Lincoln Junior High School will be open to students when they return to in-person instruction tentatively scheduled for Aug. 24.
