Local Areas See Slight Increase in Overall COVID-19 Case Numbers, Students Affected

The Indiana State Department of Health reported Sunday that 880 additional residents in the state have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing.  The total number of Hoosiers who have been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus is now 93,313. 

Marshall County’s cumulative positive COVIID-19 case count increased by four to 888, Starke County’s total cumulative case count increased by two to 209 and Pulaski County’s total case count increased by one to 99. 

Marshall County also had 57 new tests reported to the state, while Starke County had 29 new tests and Pulaski County had 19 new tests. 

Patients are in varying stages of recovery and actively fighting the virus.  No new deaths in the Tri-County area were reported to the state. 

Plymouth High School Principal Jim Condon announced Friday that two students tested positive for COVID-19.  One student attends school virtually and one student attends one in-person class at school.  The school corporation is working with the Marshall County Health Department in the matter.  School officials remind parents to keep children home if they are ill for any reason. 

A total of 3,072 people in the state are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of six from Saturday’s report.
