Large Increase of COVID-19 Recorded by Health Officials

The Indiana State Department of Health announced Friday that 1,253 additional people in the state have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing which is one of the largest daily reports since the onset of the health pandemic, although the new positive cases were determined between Aug. 4 and Aug. 6. 

Locally, Marshall County saw increase of 13 new positive cases of COVID-19 to bring that total to 771, Starke County saw an increase of two new positive cases to bring that total to 176, and Pulaski County’s case count increased by one to 76. 

Patients are in varying stages of fighting the virus and recovering from the virus. 

No additional local deaths were reported but the state saw an increase of 10 deaths from Thursday’s report for a total of 2,821.  Deaths are reported based on when data is received by the Indiana State Department of Health and occurred over multiple days.
