Culver Community School Board Members Consider Policy Updates

The Culver Community School Board members reviewed several policy updates during their meeting last week.

Superintendent Karen Shuman explained that the updated eLearning policy involves changes made due to COVID-19.  The students who are online from home are to be engaged academically with their teachers from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in order to be counted in attendance.

The change also states that teachers will work 184 days in the school calendar year.

The board also considered a policy when it comes to the virtual education program.  It outlines the three methods students may attend school: face-to-face, virtual due to COVID-19 or the simple virtual option.

Another policy included the wearing of face coverings during a health pandemic or other epidemic events.

Other changes included the way the board attends and conducts meetings, a calendar policy, an update in Title IX, and Memorandum of Understanding documents with St. Joseph Health regarding an athletic trainer and school health services.

The board members approved the policy changes as presented.
