Bremen Pickleball Players Looking for Home Court

Several pickleball players from the Bremen Pickleball Club told the Bremen Town Council members last week that they’re looking for a permanent home for the players.

The club players are currently playing on the tennis courts where the boundary lines are changed and the nets are switched out every time they take to the courts.

Several of the board members were at the town council’s recent meeting where they said they approached the Bremen Park Board about converting a few of the tennis courts to dedicated pickleball courts, but the discussions have been stagnant since that initial meeting.

It was noted that last year the Pickleball Club only had 20 members at the time of the request where the club has grown to almost 100 players in less than a year.  The membership is still growing.

The board members said several towns have converted basketball and tennis courts to pickleball courts and they would like to see that happen in Bremen.  They want to make sure that the local members stay in Bremen and not go to surrounding areas to play because there is not a home court.

Building a new court would be too costly.  The board members say the tennis courts are underutilized as it is now, except for the few days a year that the tennis courts are used for the boys tennis sectional play, so a few of those courts could be dedicated pickleball courts.

The Bremen Town Council members suggested the club members talk more about the pickleball courts with the park board to determine a solution.
