Argos Town Council Reviews ADA Plan

The Argos Town Council members reviewed a proposed ADA Plan last week that was recently compiled by MACOG.

The purpose of this plan is to ensure that the Town of Argos creates reasonable, accessible paths of travel in the public right-of-way for everyone, including people with disabilities.  The plan will help town officials to prioritize areas in order to make improvements.

Town Council President George Null said ADA compliant curbs cost about $90 which includes tear-out and installation.  Utility Superintendent Jamie Lindstrom said his department can do the updates but he needs to devise a plan to get that work done.

Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney noted that there are not any critical areas that need to be immediately addressed, but the map shows the areas where the town could improve accessibility.

Mullaney added the draft plan is available in her office for review.  Ordinances pertaining to the town’s compliance will be approved at the next meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 19.  The ordinances will adopt the grievance policy, the plan itself, and the coordinator and procedures.
