Representatives from Altium Packaging in Argos, formerly known as Consolidated Containers, will be expanding upgrade operations at the facility.
The Argos Town Council considered a resolution that declares the property as an Economic Revitalization Area, a first step in the process of requesting tax abatement. The company plans to install $3.5 million worth of equipment and space for expansion with the addition of 10 to 13 new jobs. Lines will be added for the manufacture of plastic bottles and packaging the product. The average wage is about $15 an hour.
A public hearing concerning the future tax abatement request will occur during the town council’s next meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 19. The tax abatement would be on a 10-year graduated scale with 100 percent abatement the first year, 90 percent the second year with a 10 percent decrease each year until the 10 year abatement is fulfilled.
During this health pandemic, Plant Manager Steve Bella told the council members that company gained several customers to assist with varying needs due to the pandemic.
