Triton School Board Reviews Blueprint for Start of School

The start of the new school year for students at the Triton School Corporation is a little over two weeks away.  The Triton School Board members reviewed the proposed blueprint for starting school this week.

Superintendent Jeremy Riffle noted that several videos are available on the school’s Facebook page and website with important notes regarding the start of the new school year.  The blueprint was put together by administrators, teachers, parents, and a student representative with guidance from the health department.

Temperature screening will not be done, but self screening will need to be performed before a child arrives at school.  Student and staff daily schedules will be adjusted to provide adequate time for hand washing, sanitizing desks, and other good hygiene practices.

The 180 days of instruction will be in-person beginning Aug. 5, but may change to a virtual instruction or an adjustment in breaks depending on community health.

Students will be restricted to only riding their assigned bus routes, unless otherwise communicated with the Triton Transportation Director.  Students will be assigned a seat on the bus and masks must be worn while on the bus.

Students and employees should not enter the school buildings if they test positive for COVID-19 or exhibit one or more of the symptoms of COVID-19 that is not otherwise explained. Students and employees exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 without being otherwise explained are prohibited from coming to school, and if they do come to school, they will be sent home immediately.  The local health department will be notified if a student or staff member is infected with COVID-19 and will work with the school on guidelines following that.

Additionally, students and staff members will be expected to wear masks while mobilizing in the school when social distancing is not possible.  They will not need to be worn in the classrooms.

Sack lunches will be provided for the month of August to allow for more opportunities for social distancing, unless otherwise notified.
