Marshall County Maintenance Directors Look to Fund Projects

The Marshall County Commissioners heard from the county’s maintenance directors about upcoming projects that need support.

Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Director Doug Masterson asked for support to finish the patio at the Marshall County Courthouse at the northern point.   He also wants to replace the exterior front doors at the County Building and replace the concrete around the building.  In addition, he’d also like to repair two supply vans for a total amount of $132,000.  Commission President Kevin Overmyer suggested asking the county council for $140,000 for the purpose of contingency funds which was supported by all three commissioners.

Jail Maintenance Director John Greer presented a contract to add an exhaust fan in the negative pressure cells at the Marshall County Jail in the amount of $9,890.

“All of booking is under a negative pressure to the rest of the jail to prevent disease spread,” said Greer.  “We also have two cells that are dedicated medical so we need to increase the negative pressure in those cells and the easiest way to do that is to add another fan.  By doing that and taking those two cells off the present system in booking, we will also increase the negative pressure in the other cells in booking.”

The commissioners approved the contract with Hermann and Goetz, Inc. to do the work.
