Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters told the Marshall County Commissioners this week that many of the chip and seal projects are nearly done.
Portions of Jarrah Road, Hickory Road, Juniper Road, 12 B Road, County Line Road, 3B Road, Elmwood, Union, Redwood, and 4B Road were either a single, double or triple chip and seal project.
Peters said about 28 miles were completed in that portion of the summer road program.
“Finishing up we’ll be on Lincolnway from Union to U.S. 30, Olive from 7th to 6th Roads, and 7th from Oak to Queen,” commented Peters. “Due to heat and humidity, we might be kind of limited to what we do this week. We may have one or two tankers out early in the morning and then shutting down. It’ll bleed through really bad. Humidity plays chaos in chip seals so I’d rather be safe than sorry.”
About $850,000 to $900,000 has been spent on road maintenance and repairs so far which includes cold patch purchases, and oil and stone for the in-house production of cold patch.
