Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters asked the Marshall County Council members for their support in doing some extra projects with appropriated money.
Peters explained that match money was left over from the funds appropriated for the Community Crossings Matching Grant and he would like to use the funds for other roads connected to the North Michigan Road Community Crossings project.
He said there are several roads that need work that come off of North Michigan Road, like 7B Road and 6C Road, but he will base priority on population.
He would also like to have funds to do work on Pine Road from 7B to 7th Road. Peters said Walsh and Kelly crews will be in that area when the City of Plymouth gets the Pioneer Drive project started. He feels that if Walsh and Kelly can do the project following the completion of the city’s project, the county could save money on equipment mobilization and demobilization.
County Councilman Jon VanVactor said it makes sense to move forward with this project and the council agreed to support that project as well.
The council will be reviewing appropriate fund transfer or additional appropriation paperwork for consideration during their August meeting.
