The Marshall County Council members met in special session Thursday afternoon to approve job descriptions for two positions in the Health Department.
The Public Health Nurse/Health Educator and the Emergency Management Coordinator/Environmentalist job descriptions were approved as presented with a unanimous vote. A salary ordinance that outlines pay and exempt and non-exempt statuses was also approved.
The salary for the Emergency Management Coordinator/Environmentalist is reimbursable by funds through a grant if the application is approved at the state level. The council approved the grant application request for those funds at their last meeting. The commissioners approved the same request at their meeting this week.
With the approval of those items, Health Administrator Ashley Garcia can move forward with hiring people into those positions. At the last council meeting, it was noted that one of the Health Department staff members would be moving on to a job at the school so that position would need to be filled rather quickly. Thursday’s council meeting allowed for that process to be done in a quicker fashion.
