Culver Woman Pleads Guilty to Drug Charges

A Culver woman was sentenced Thursday, July 9 after pleading guilty in a plea agreement with the state on two drug charges.

Candice Moe, 28, was charged with dealing methamphetamine as a Level 2 Felony and dealing in methamphetamine as a Level 4 Felony in two separate incidents.  On March 29, 2019, officers from the Marshall County Undercover Narcotics Investigation Team orchestrated a controlled buy from Moe at the Red Rock Inn in Plymouth.  The sale of 1.6 grams of methamphetamine was conducted with UNIT officers and/or confidential informants which resulted in the Level 4 Felony charge.  Another buy occurred on April 1, 2019, resulting in the purchase of 16.9 grams of methamphetamine.  The two sales resulted in a Level 2 Felony charge.

A plea agreement negotiated between Marshall County Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Tami Napier and Defense Attorney Christopher Berdahl was accepted by Judge Robert O. Bowen. After hearing testimony, Judge Bowen imposed an aggravated sentence of 20 years on the Level 2 Felony charge and eight years on the Level 4 Felony count.  The sentences will run concurrently, or at the same time.

Napier said, “Candace Moe dealt methamphetamine numerous times from a motel in Plymouth where a number of children as well as adults live without regard to the impact drug dealing has on families. Dealing drugs always presents an inherently dangerous situation which is why the crime is so serious in Indiana. Law enforcement continual efforts to stem the tide of methamphetamine and the prosecution of these offenders cannot be overstated.”
