Three Passengers Safe after Car Slips into Ditch

Three people are safe after Bremen first responders rescued them from a vehicle that slid down into a water-filled ditch.

Bremen Police Chief Brad Kile told MAX News that an older couple and their granddaughter were in the Rentown area when the driver backed up their crossover vehicle too far out of a driveway and slipped down into a 12-14 foot deep ditch.  The ditch had about four feet of water in it.

Kile said Bremen firefighters quickly arrived and secured the vehicle from falling further into the ditch.  Ladders were laid across to the vehicle in order for the driver and granddaughter to exit the vehicle.  A basket was used to assist the passenger out of the vehicle as it settled sideways making it difficult to exit that side of the vehicle.

Kile said there were no injuries.

The Bremen Police Department, Bremen Fire Department, Lutheran EMS and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene.
