Bremen Town Council Considers First Reading of Ordinance Amendment Regarding Yard Waste

The first reading of an amendment to an ordinance that regulates the Town of Bremen’s Yardwaste Processing Facility was considered during last week’s Bremen Town Council meeting.

One proposed change would amend the allowance of material at the site to grass clippings and small brush only.  All other materials would be strictly prohibited.

Any person using the waste facility must produce identification demonstrating proof of residency within the municipal boundaries of Bremen.  Use of the facility is free to Bremen residents who live within the town limits.

A permit may also be shown to determine the authority to use the facility.  The permit may be purchased for $100 per household from the Bremen Director of Operations.  The permit may not be transferred to any other household for use.

The remainder of what is in the current ordinance would stay in force.

The Bremen Town Council members approved the first reading of the amended ordinance and stressed the fact that there may be further amendments to the ordinance when it is presented for second reading at the June 8 meeting.
